Digital Dental X-Rays

Preventive dentistry is at the heart of what we do at Edmond Dental Center. Dental x-rays are an invaluable tool that Dr. Chandler uses to diagnose many dental concerns as early as possible that he can't as easily during an examination, and we are proud to offer our patients the safety and convenience of digital x-rays.

The Advantages of Digital X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays offer many benefits over those taken in the past.

First, those patients who worry about the safety of taking x-rays can relax knowing that digital x-rays emit 80 percent less radiation than those taken in the past. Essentially, this means that being outside in the sun exposes you to more radiation than having dental x-rays.

Digital images are also readily available and offer a clearer picture that makes it easier for your Edmond dentist to detect dental concerns earlier than ever before. They are also simple for him to access in your digital records if he needs to compare x-rays taken in the past, or share them with your dental insurance company or another pertinent provider.

Digital x-rays are also less harmful to our environment since they don’t require harsh chemicals for developing.

X-Ray Recommendations

Dr. Chandler typically recommends that one set of bitewing x-rays are taken each year to monitor the health of your teeth and detect tooth decay early on.

A panoramic or 3-D cone beam imaging is recommended every three to five years to ensure the health of your roots and bone.

When Are Additional X-Rays Required?

Dr. Chandler utilizes 3-D cone beam imaging for planning implant placement surgeries, evaluating bone and gum health, and checking for dental infection. These x-rays are critical in treatment planning to ensure the best results during your procedure.

He may also use an x-ray called a periapical to get a closer view of a problem tooth during a dental emergency. Since digital x-rays are immediately available for viewing, this type of x-ray allows your emergency dentist in Edmond to identify the concern, diagnose the proper treatment, and get you back on the path to wellness as quickly as possible.

Schedule Your Next Preventive Visit

X-rays are often an essential part of your preventive cleaning and checkup appointment, and Dr. Chandler is happy to discuss his findings and show you your dental x-rays during this visit. Your preventive visits, every four to six months, allow him to monitor the health of your teeth, gums, and bone and make you aware of any concerns early, which means you can choose less costly procedures that are not as invasive to restore your dental health.
