Bleeding gums are caused by infection called gingivitis. Bacteria hide in the space between your gums and teeth and cause sores that bleed when the floss rubs up against them. Flossing daily is the best remedy for bleeding gums. After a week or two, your body can heal the sores if you are keeping the bacteria out. Sometimes a more serious infection called gum disease may require professional treatment. Our hygienists can tell you if you have gum disease.
