Dental bonding is a common cosmetic procedure used for restoring or improving a person’s smile. During the procedure, a durable tooth-colored resin is applied to damaged or decaying teeth; the resin is applied to the tooth or multiple teeth and hardened by a special light. This technique ultimately ensures the bonding process, giving you a strong, healthy smile.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is one of the least complicated and least expensive cosmetic dental procedures. Unlike dental crowns or veneers, dental bonding is a fast and simple procedure that requires only minimal enamel removal. Anesthesia is typically not required for dental bonding unless it’s being used to fill cavities.

There are a number of reasons why a person may need dental bonding in Edmond, OK. Dental bonding may be required to do the following:

  • Repair decayed teeth
  • Repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • Whiten discolored or stained teeth
  • Fill in the spaces or gaps between teeth
  • Reshape or lengthen teeth
  • Fill cavities
  • Protect exposed tooth roots

The Dental Bonding Procedure at Our Edmond Dentist Office

Dental bonding is a simple cosmetic procedure that requires little advanced preparation or anesthesia. Typically, dental bonding takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth to complete. The first step of the dental bonding process is choosing a composite resin that closely matches the color of your natural smile. To ensure the bonding material adheres to your tooth, Dr. Chandler will roughen your tooth’s surface and apply a conditioning liquid to it. The malleable, tooth-colored resin is then applied, molded, and shaped to your specifications. Once the tooth is smoothed and shaped, the bonding material is hardened with a special light. After the material hardens, our dentist in Edmond will perfect the tooth’s shape by trimming and polishing it to match the rest of your teeth.
