During these uncertain times, we want you to know what we are doing to protect you and your health.

We miss our patients, and we miss dentistry and are preparing to open with your safety and health as our top priority.

Since I opened my practice in 2004, my staff and I have been following standard precautions. This means that we treat every patient the same in order to minimize the risk of exposure to infectious disease.

This includes handwashing, wearing proper personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, eyewear, sterilizing all instruments, and properly disinfecting treatment rooms.

Safety and Security at Our Edmond Dentist Office

Our treatment rooms are disinfected between each patient, at the end of each day, and then again in the morning before we begin seeing patients. We use a hospital-grade disinfectant that kills even the most resistant germs to clean all surfaces in the treatment room.

All of our instruments undergo a comprehensive sterilization process. First, they go through an ultrasonic bath with a specialized enzymatic cleaner. Then, we subject all instruments to a high heat steam autoclave that kills even the most resistant microbes.

We also do specialized testing, called spore testing, that helps us to monitor that our sterilization equipment is working properly. We send these tests to an outside laboratory, and we receive a report back confirming everything is functioning as it should.

As your family dentist in Edmond, OK, we welcome all questions about our sterilization process, and would be happy to show you our sterilization room! Just ask me or one of my clinical team.

Our New Safety Policies

In addition to these standard precautions, we are implementing new policies for your safety, as well. We log every staff member’s temperature before beginning each workday. We also screen our patients for symptoms or risk factors for the novel coronavirus and take each patient’s temperature before starting treatment. Anyone with symptoms, risk factors, or fever will be asked to leave the premises for the health and safety of our patients and team.

We now ask that when you arrive for your visit, please stay in your car and call our office at (405) 330-4630 to let us know you’ve arrived. Our front office team will complete the check-in process over the phone, and we will call you when your treatment room is ready so that we can escort you straight back.

This eliminates any risk of patient-to-patient exposure in the waiting room. We are also limiting how many patients we see each day to help lower exposure risk. When your treatment is complete, our front office staff will guide you through a streamlined checkout process to ensure you are on your way in no time.

Edmond Dental Center is Always Safe for Staff and Patients

As your general dentist in Edmond, OK, I am reviewing recommendations from the CDC and all state and local organizations/agencies and making decisions that are best for our patients and team. As more and more information becomes available, we will continue to shape how we carry out our day-to-day operations in order to protect you. Feel free to contact Edmond Dental Center at (405) 330-4630 if you have any questions or concerns.
