Dental implants are an excellent permanent tooth replacement option. Because implants are placed in the jaw, many patients request sedation, so they don't feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

Dr. Michael Chandler, DDS is a highly skilled implant dentist in Edmond, OK who can help you regain your oral health and self-esteem with dental implants. Dr. Chandler and our entire team at Edmond Dental Center strive to make sure our patients are comfortable and relaxed during any treatment, whether it’s a simple filling or a dental implant procedure.

Types of Sedation Dentistry

There are several of sedation dental options that could be used, depending on the complexity of the procedure and the patient’s needs. Some of these factors can depend on the number of implants placed and the patient’s personal preferences and comfort levels.

Edmond Dental Center offers various types of sedation for each patient's ultimate comfort and safety during the dental implant procedure. Each form of sedation helps the patient relax and allows Dr. Chandler to complete the treatment quickly and effectively.

#1 Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is inhaled through a small oxygen mask and gives patients a light and dream-like feeling. Laughing gas is safe for most people – including kids.

#2 Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral sedation is in the form of a pill, which should be taken an hour prior to a procedure. Oral sedatives make most patients feel peaceful and calm, and the patient remains conscious. Many patients report having little or no memory of the procedure.

#3 IV Sedation

Intravenous (IV) sedation is conscious sedation that’s gently administered. Many patients don’t remember the procedure, and they need a responsible driver to transport them to and from their procedure.

Whatever form of sedation you may need, Dr. Chandler and our team will continuously monitor your vitals during the treatment and make sure you don’t feel pain or discomfort. Our team is very caring and gentle, and we want to make sure you have a positive and relaxing experience in our dental office.
